Horicon Comes Up Short Despite Milestone Night Against Undefeated Lourdes

Horicon — The Horicon girls basketball team delivered a determined performance on its home court Thursday night, but the effort was not enough to knock off undefeated Lourdes Academy in conference play.

The night still held special meaning for the Marshmen, as senior Cyriana Reinwald reached the 1,000-point milestone for her high school career early in the contest. The achievement energized the home crowd and provided an emotional highlight in an otherwise challenging matchup.

Facing a Lourdes squad that entered the game unbeaten in Trailways-South play, Horicon battled from the opening tip. The Marshmen worked to slow Lourdes’ offensive rhythm, showing strong defensive intensity and patience on the offensive end. Despite those efforts, Lourdes’ depth and consistency eventually proved decisive.

Horicon stayed competitive through stretches of the game, responding to scoring runs and refusing to let the contest slip away easily. Reinwald’s leadership was evident not only in her scoring, but also in her composure as the team looked to generate momentum against one of the conference’s top teams.

Although the loss added another mark in the standings, Horicon head coach and players emphasized the positives that came from the matchup. Competing closely with an undefeated opponent offered valuable experience as the season moves toward its final weeks.

With Reinwald’s milestone now etched into the program’s history, the Marshmen will look to build on the resilience shown Thursday as they prepare for the remainder of conference play and the postseason ahead.
